Independent Living
What is independent living?
Most Americans go about their lives without realizing their freedom when it comes to their living arrangements, employment situation, means of transportation, social and recreational activities, and other aspects of everyday life.
For the incredible group of Americans with disabilities, who have to live with barriers and limited choices in their communities, life can bring about more challenges. Some barriers may be as obvious as the lack of ramped entrances for people who use wheelchairs, lack of interpreters or captioning for people with hearing impairments, but most disabled Americans have to deal with much bigger challenges. Living independently, enjoying life without the need of caretakers and assisted living facilities. Our sole focus is to remove whatever limitations are currently there and transforming those limitations into fruitful skills that will help disabled Americans enjoy an independent lifestyle.
Living independently allows us to enjoy a high level of personal satisfaction, confidence, and reassurance. Millions of Americans who experience disabilities have an established foundation that allows them to lead lives of independence. They fulfill every imaginable role in their communities, overcoming the barriers of misconception and misunderstandings.
